PiiMo, a robotic mobility system with a follow-up driving function, has been developed by Panasonic. It has been tested in many places such as airports and train stations, and is expected to be used in a variety of places in the future.
The PiiMo is capable of following multiple vehicles stably due to its high performance in follow-up driving. In addition, the PiiMo is equipped with the world’s first certified functional safety module, which ensures safety even in crowded public spaces.
At Takanawa Gateway Station in Japan, a demonstration test was conducted using PiiMo in conjunction with the autonomous mobile robot HOSPI. The HOSPI, which is in the lead, acts as a guide to take the PiiMo passengers to their destinations.
